Fremantle Mariners and Marlins
With the NWPL getting down to the business end of the season both the Mariners and the Marlins are in the mix for the finals.
The Mariners on top of the ladder having only lost 1 game and drawn another. This is an outstanding result so far given our reliance on a number of our younger players who have been up to the challenge.
The Marlins are currently in 5th place, which has been hard fought as their Australian reps have been unavailable for a large part of the season. The team has pulled together to cover the loss of their senior players and again the younger players have come through when needed.
We have 3 home rounds left to play:
Wednesday 26 March, UWA Comets (7.30pm) & UWA Torpedoes (8.45pm)
Friday 28 March, Adelaide Jets (7.30pm & 8.45pm), Gold Sponsor function night
Sunday 30 March, Adelaide Jets (10.30am & 11.45am)
Thursday 3 April, Sydney Uni Lions (6.15pm & 7.45pm)
Saturday 5 April, Sydney Uni Lions (6.15pm & 7.45pm), Gold Sponsor function night

The Fremantle Mariners and Marlins are the representive teams of the Melville Waterpolo Club in the Australian National Waterpolo League, the premier domestic competition.
The Fremantle Mariners competes in the mens competition. We joined the competition in 1992, and since then have developed into one of the most successful teams in the League. We have won the Premiership 5 times, competing in 9 consecutive Grand Final series.
The Marlins is our representative team in the womens competition. The womens league has been running since 2003-04, with the Marlins winning the first 2 seasons. This competition is one of the strongest in the world, with many players from the Olympic gold medal winning team in 2000 competing.
One of the primary aims of the Melville Waterpolo club is to provide the opportunity for our players to develop to their full potential. Playing for the Mariners or the Marlins is the pinnacle for many players, giving them the opportunity to compete against the best in Australia.
Most of our current players have progressed through Melville's Flippaball competition into the National League. The quality of Melville's development programs has ensured our success at the highest level. It has also provided the opportunity for players reach Australian representative and Olympic teams.
