As you may know December is Tom Hoad Cup time at Melville Water Polo Club. This year promises to be bigger and better than ever with the reigning champions Partizan Belgrade returning to defend their crown, our Fremantle Mariners hungry to go one better this year and the reigning Asian champions, China, fielding an Olympic-strength team to try to take the title in the lead up to Beijing. The fourth team is almost certain to be European power-house Yug Dubrovnik (Croatia). We expect confirmation by Monday December 10, 2007. This makes for a superb tournament and it should be a sell-out.

This year's event has fully ticketed seating to improve the spectacle and safety of patrons so there will be no general admission tickets at this stage. We are expecting to sell all tickets prior to the event. If not, the seats will go on sale on the night but the risk is missing out. The venue layout has changed slightly and the limestone steps will be utilized for sponsors' corporate package seating this year - you can check the venue set-up on the website.

Our commitment is to our members first and foremost. The reserved seats are terrific value and we are keen to have as many of our people there cheering for our club as possible. We encourage all members to purchase their tickets early for the best seats.

The seating price is set at $20.00 per night which is great value for two top quality games of water polo. There are no concession tickets available this year. If you require further information, please let us know.

Junior Competition

The Tom Hoad Cup junior tournament is on again this year for U/15 & U17 boys and girls teams. We are hosting teams from as far afield as Port Hedland and Cronulla. There is a chance that an U/17 girls team from Greece will play but it has yet to be confirmed. We have our local Perth teams well represented again this year, which is terrific for the game in WA. Ask your coaches for details.

The team registration fee allows the junior competitors access to the evening games and spectators for the kids' games are only $5.00 at the gate.

HELP!! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!! ASSIST US TO DELIVER A GREAT EVENT BY GETTING INVOLVED!!

We still need some support from our members as volunteers to help with:

Food/Ushering/Hospitality
Liaison Officers
Game Officials
Merchandising
And a number of other jobs which need to be done.
