The NWPL season proved to be a very successful year for our teams. The Mariners finished the regular season in 4 th place before beating the Drummoyne Devils in the Grand Final to win the 2009 season premiership. The Longmont Fremantle Marlins had a very successful season finishing second in home and away fixtures. While they finished top of their group in the qualification round, unfortunately they lost their semi-final to the eventual winners but then went on to win the play-off for Bronze.
Both the Mariners and the Marlins relied heavily on their younger players to play significant roles in their games, which bodes very well for the future of the club.
Some of the players were recognised for their efforts in the end of season honours roll.
